Through the medium of automatic drawing and painting, she traverses this inner landscape, seeking to unravel the profound symbolism that resides beneath the surface of our daily existence.

Breath Meets Body

There are things we perceive, yet can not see- even life itself is an invisible force. No where do we experience this more intimately than in our own breath, the force that eludes vision yet powers life within our body.

"Breath Meets Body" is a collection of paintings that explore the liminal spaces where invisible, ephemeral realities combine with physical, material points of embodiment. Artists Mahya Shamai and Noëmi Manser openly look into the unknown through ethereal landscapes that showcase elements of abstraction and realism, rendered in soft, inviting color palettes that are encountered by solid figures. Deep gazes from painted bodies engage viewers' emotions while also marking the tension that exists when different realities encounter one another. Love as a true and pure force of life is experienced through depictions of roses that provide an ephemeral experience of beauty. The artists debut their. bodies of work after months of deliberation and discussion around big topics that include beauty, truth, and goodness, with questions about how the finite can know and experience infinity. The resulting collection of work is a place where sky meets ground, dream meets waking, and breath meets body.
